Phil.AIA.delphia

Team Millennium arrived in Philadelphia for the AIA convention on May 19-21st. A three-day architecture and design show featuring top innovative companies from software development to building solutions. With architects coming in from all over the country, we were elated to see some familiar faces from past projects.

Dan Spiry from BVH Architects was drawn to our booth when he noticed our Zalmag® banner featuring the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dan was the lead architect in designing the Nebraska Huskers stadium and we humbly asked him to autograph our banner.

Philadelphia is a fascinating city with beautiful architecture and a rich history. With some down time outside the convention, we took a chance to explore the city and its local food spots. At Millennium we are always interested in trying something new including a Queenstown hole-in-the-wall restaurant and the local delicacy squab, aka pigeon meat. AIA Philadelphia was a huge success and we will definitely be returning next year for the convention in Orlando, Florida.

THE FIRE THAT BURNS ON

The Museum at Prairiefire in Overland Park, Kansas was designed by Verner Johnson Inc. (lead architect was Jonathon Kharfen). The concept design for the building was to recreate the imagery of the tallgrass prairiefire as it burns. The unique blend of Dichroic Glass, tinted vision glass, and our own Millennium Tiles stainless steel Flat Lock Panels make up a totally unique appearance that is color shifting in both day and night!

Nature's Finest

Our sales team was in Boston for the ABX convention last week. With a day available for sales calls, we headed west out of Boston, driving into the Berkshires and then meandering our way into New York and the Hudson Valley. Along the way we visited a private residence that prominently features our ZALMAG® Flat Tiles in Pre-Patina II. The granite excavated during construction coincidentally matches this soft bluish-gray color. On our way out of the Berkshires, and shortly after Stainless Steve sailed over a gravel bridge a little too quickly, we survived to spot two American Eagles!! They waited patiently, their beady eyes carefully watching a dead raccoon, while we snapped photos and enjoyed their magnificent presence.

Happy Thanksgiving!
